2017 has gotten off to a flying start and certainly is showing no signs of slowing! Term one is officially over and our students are kicking goals in all areas. We have seen incredible improvements across the board and can’t wait start classes at 31 Essex Street next term where we can really start to stretch our legs.
The new building is looking more and more like a circus school every day. The massive wooden floor has been laid. Six tonnes of wood separated from the concrete floor by trailer loads of recycled carpet. Thousands of nails, screws and staples holding it all together smothered in buckets of paint. It’s been a huge project but extremely worthwhile as doing circus on cold, hard concrete floor is certainly not ideal. Your wrists and ankles will be very grateful!
As I write this, the rigging is underway and is another huge task. Hanging lots of trapezes, tissues and aerial rings safely takes a lot of planning. Discussions are well underway into how best use the amazing new space and with a lot of hard work we will see Essex St chock full of aerialists, tumblers and jugglers by the start of Term two. We can’t wait to see everyone benefit from the added space at the brand new home of The Circus Spot.
If you haven’t made your enrolment for term 2 yet, please head to the enrolments page and book your place.
Kyle studied at NICA with Daniel, they were actually stretching buddies all through first year! He specialised in unicycle and flying trapeze whilst dabbling in juggling, clown and group acrobatics. Kyle has spent the last three years as a full time performer with Circus Oz. He also plays the trumpet, scuba dives and makes a great coffee!
